The 2026 World Cup features 48 teams. 46 slots are filled through confederation qualifying, plus 3 automatic hosts (USA, Canada, Mexico). Slot allocation: Europe 16, Africa 9.5, Asia 8.5, South America 6.5, CONCACAF 6 (incl. 3 hosts), Oceania 1.5.

8.5 slots, four-round format. Round 3 group top 2 qualify directly; Round 4 group winners qualify; runners-up playoff winner advances to intercontinental play-off.
🇪🇺 Europe (UEFA)
16 slots. 12 group winners qualify directly; play-offs determine last 4 spots.
🟢 South America (CONMEBOL)
6.5 slots. Top 6 of round-robin qualify directly; 7th place enters intercontinental play-off.
🌍 Africa (CAF)
9.5 slots. 9 group winners qualify directly; 4 best runners-up compete for 0.5 play-off spot.
